HJF is seeking a Deployment Behavioral Health Psychologist to support the Uniformed Services University’s Center for Deployment Psychology’s Deployment Behavioral Heath Psychologist Program located at the Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia and will serve as a subject matter expert on deployment-related psychological health issues at the Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP). HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CDP.

This position serves two distinct roles, 1) Direct support to the Hospital’s APA accredited clinical psychology internship, and 2) support to the Center for Deployment Psychology’s training and education mission.


Direct support to the internship may include:  Develop and deliver high quality didactics to the psychology interns and residents. Provide clinical supervision to psychology interns and or residents on site, with an emphasis on evidence based psychotherapies (EBPs).  Provide training and supervise interns on psychological testing. Assist with logistical coordination for the internship, which may involve serving as the deputy director of the internship. Provide consultation to civilian and military medical personnel and military commanders and conduct and/or supervise Command Directed Mental Health Evaluations. Position will have a limited amount of direct patient care to maintain credentials.

Support for the CDP’s training and education mission may include: Developing and delivering training and education materials to a wide range of medical and mental health care providers and students as well as audiences of service members, military families and others. Lecture on deployment issues for the CDP as well as teaching courses on deployment related issues in community settings. Serving as a bridge between the internship and CDP headquarters, as well as other DoD clinical psychology internships. Provides staff expertise in psychology that is pertinent in a wide variety of circumstances, to include management of patients with psychological disorders. Must adhere to patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Association's Bill of Rights for Patients. Provide training in examining, diagnosing, treating, and following outpatients with psychological problems of all complexities.  Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to diagnose and treat psychological problems of all complexities; familiarity with military medical system and EBPs for disorders common in military populations desirable.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Must have graduated from an American Psychological Association accredited Ph.D./Psy.D. program in clinical/counseling psychology, and possess a current license to practice in Georgia.  Must have experience at organizing and delivering presentations. 

Must be US Citizen.

Minimum Experience:  At least 6 years’ experience post-license, and should possess knowledge of the trauma research literature (PTSD, ASD, etc.). Candidates with previous experience working in military behavioral health clinics, especially those who are prior active duty are strongly preferred. Candidates should have experience in providing DoD/VA recommended evidence-based psychotherapies for PTSD and other deployment related conditions.

Must undergo a favorable Public Trust Security Clearance Investigation.
