HJF is seeking a Physical Therapist to support the Center for Rehabilitation Sciences Research (CRSR) at the University of Miami/Department of Veterans Affairs in Miami, Florida. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CRSR. The candidate must have professional skills coordinating and administering complex therapeutic and clinical education programs for physical therapy and a history of participating in research studies.
The candidate will be a key contributor on a collaborative Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and US Department of Defense (DoD) partnership demonstrating the implementation of the Mobile Device Outcomes-based Rehabilitation Program (MDORP). This initiative may improve the quality of rehabilitative care at a decreased cost to the healthcare system and a reduced burden for service members (SMs) and Veterans with lower limb loss. The development of the MDORP will be executed by a multisite translational clinical care team who will use web-based mobile computing devices designed to assess mobility, enable remote prescription of targeted exercise program, and provide continual measureable outcomes to document the continuum of care with the intent of maximizing prosthetic performance while minimizing adverse medical events. The information obtained from this web-based mobile device application will be used by the clinician to promote continuity of care from the DoD to the VA facilities nationwide to the community and at home.
1. Plans and supervises a program of physical therapy activities for functional and supportive patients.
2. Modifies treatment as required and consults with head of section regarding long term planning.
3. Coordinates activities with nursing, social work and volunteer services.
4. Treats and/or supervises the treatment of patients.
5. Complies reports and submits purchase request for physical therapy activities.
6. Attends meetings, aids with necessary public relations and keeps abreast of new physical therapy techniques.
7. Lectures and demonstrates to visiting professions and students, and participates in in-service education.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of physical therapy materials and equipment and their economic and beneficial use
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Master’s degree in physical therapy
Minimum Experience: Two to four years’ experience as a Physical Therapist with supervisory experience
Physical Capabilities: Long periods of standing and sitting; bending; may involve lifting of patients
Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Registration as a Physical Therapist with the American Physical Therapy Association
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Provides direct supervision of Therapeutic Activities Specialist, clerical and volunteer personnel
